Cookbook Recipes
Title: Kraut Chocolate Cake
Author: Audrey Springer
Ingredients: 2/3 c Shortening
3 Eggs
1 tsp Vanilla
1 c Water
1/2 c rinsed, drained and chopped Sauerkraut
2 1/4 c Flour
1/2 c Cocoa
1 tsp Baking Powder
1 tsp Baking Soda
1/4 tsp Salt
Method: Cream butter well with sugar. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Cream until fluffy. Stir flour with cocoa, baking powder, soad and salt. Add alternately with water to creamed mixture. Stir in kraut. Turn into 2 greased and floured 8" pans. Bake in preheated oven 350 for 30 min. or until cake tests done.
