Cookbook Recipes
Title: Hungarian Jam Squares
Author: Christine Elmer Gascho (Reatha's Granddaughter)
Ingredients: 3 c Flour
1/2 tsp Salt
1 c Sugar
1 c Oleo
2 Eggs
2 tsp Vanilla
jam of your choice
Method: Mix dry ingredients and oleo. Beat eggs and vanilla and mix into the dry ingredients. Set aside some of this dough for the lattice top. Press the remaining dough in a full-sized cookie sheet. Spread this with the jam. Make the rest of the dough into "worms" by rolling between you palms. Use these to criss-cross the top to make a lattice (diagonal in two direction). Bake at 350-375 for 25-30 minutes.
To Serve:: Cut into Bars
Yield: Makes a lot.
